PRINCIPLES OF GAPSTM FOR PUBLIC SECTOR AGENCIES with HANDS-ON SIMULATION (GAPS 102)
[PRIVATE- OPEN ONLY TO INVITEES OF SPONSORING ENTITY]
Description
This private, day long session
fully explains the principles, tools, and techniques of
the Governmental Agency Process Streamlining
(GAPStm ) program in an informative manner
that is also a lot of fun. As participants learn
about GAPStm, they get to immediately
apply the improvement tools learned to the Permitting
Department of the fictitious city of Acme, OH.
Concerns about how implementing GAPStm will
impact employees on an individual level are addressed.
Questions and discussion are encouraged so by the end of
the day, attendees start visualizing concrete ways that
the GAPStm
program would significantly benefit their own departments.
Benefits/Objectives
- Clear understanding of the
difference between value-added and non value-added
(also known as “waste”) activities in a process.
- Basic understanding of
GAPStm Mapping and how it prioritizes
improvement efforts.
- Introduction to the waste
reduction/elimination tools used in GAPStm.
- Hands-on application of these
tools to reduce waste and measurably improve a
simulated Permitting Department process.
- Visualization of potential
benefits from the GAPStm approach within the agency.
Who Should Attend?
All those public sector employees
who will be involved in GAPStm
program implementation in their respective agency and/or departments.
Note: This
private version of this GAPStm Principles
seminar is designed for agencies who have decided to
educate employees about the GAPStm program on
a largerscale. If an agency wishes to evaluate the
applicability of GAPStm
, we suggest that one or two leaders attend a public Principles of
GAPStm seminar (GAPS 101).
Session Instructor/Facilitator
The
instructor/facilitator for this session will be an
experienced practitioner of the GAPStm
approach certified by ERC to conduct this seminar. A GAPStm 102 Train the Trainer course is also offered to allow internal agency staff to become certified so they may effectively deliver this course.
Maximum Number of Participants
So that every participant can have a role in the Acme City Permitting Department simulation, attendance is capped at 15.
